I really don't know what to call these outcroppings but they look like mini-mountains that I never knew were there until the leaves were gone.
In the Fall my son and a couple of his friends went walking through the woods and he came back and told me about these big mounds all over the place. He says there is one farther back that is taller than the trees. I haven't found it yet.
Before we got a lot of snow, my son and I climbed to the top of this one. This is a photo from the other side.
Now that we have so much snow on the ground I don't dare try to get up it again. I'm not as young as I used to be!
I don't know if this damage is from the ice storm or if these trees were tipped over before that, but I did see a lot of broken and down trees on my walk through the Girl Scout Camp.

Oh ya, this place will be busy in the summer months, but for now it's the best place to walk or take the dog for a romp. Summer's coming!

Yeah I bet you're looking forward to summer. :) Your mounds remind of something that may been left behind by receding glaciers that I learned about back in a high school geology class, but I can't quite place it.
